According to the remeasurement in 2021, the total height of the tower stands at 58.70 meters and it represents the highest tower with the original preserved construction in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Tourist Club was the driving force behind the building of the Petrin observation tower, which began in March 1891. It is no secret that the Eiffel Tower in Paris served as a source of inspiration for its designers throughout the construction of the tower.
The building was completed in a record time of three months, using 175 tons of iron. The first visitors ascended in August 1891, when the tower was officially opened to the people.

A total of 299 steps lead to the top of the Petrin Tower. These are spiral staircases, with one part used for climbing up and the other for going down. The benefit of this arrangement is that visitors do not block each other on the stairs.
